FAQ ("Frequently Asked Questions")
- How much does it cost to use e-codices?
Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, access is free. - Is it possible to download and install e-codices on my computer?
Because many of its functions depend on a server, e-codices can only be used online. - Can images from e-codices be used for publication in print media?
Uncompressed TIFF images can be obtained from the library concerned for publications in print media (cf. Contact library or collection). Any form of commercial use (publication or advertisement in electronic or print media, company websites, etc.) of images or content made available by e-codices requires a bibliographic reference and the prior written permission of the library concerned (see Terms of Use). - Can images from e-codices be used for non-commercial purposes?
Images may be used for private and non-commercial purposes (especially for education and research). - Can images from e-codices be used on other websites?
The use of individual images on non-commercial websites is allowed, as long as a proper reference with a hyperlink to our site is included (see Terms of Use). Please send us an e-mail for our information, with a link to the page on your website where the image is used (see Contact). - Can incorrect or incomplete manuscript descriptions be corrected?
e-codices is only able to make the informational content of manuscript descriptions available. In many cases, a more complete treatment of the manuscript is not available. Older descriptions (such as those of Scherrer, Gottwald, and Meier) have only been encoded by e-codices. E-codices does not guarantee the completeness or accuracy of the descriptions.
