Manuscript summary: This manuscript contains the tract "Le Mortifiement de Vaine Plaisance" by King René of Anjou. This allegorical poem, composed in 1455, invites people to a holy life, via a dialogue between soul and heart about abstinence from unsatisfying earthly things. CB 144 is decorated with eight full-page miniatures made by Jean Colombe in about 1470.
