15th century devotional volume, mostly written by the Carthusian Johannes Gipsmüller and owned by the Carthusian monastery of Basel. On the verso side of a parchment leaf, inserted as f. 57 into the paper manuscript, there is a full-page image of Christ on the cross with Mary and John. A peculiarity is a collection of Bible passages in Latin and sayings in German by Petrus Wolfer, which are said to have been written on a wall of the Carthusian monastery, surrounding a crucifixion.

This late medieval book of devotion and prayer is named for its first owner, Margret Zschampi, Dominican at Klingental Convent in Basel. It is a typical manuscript for edification, in German, as they were customarily used and written at the end of the Middle Ages for private devotion, especially in women's convents and in lay communities. Margret Zschampi donated the manuscript to the Carthusian monastery of Basel, where it became part of the library for lay brothers. As part of this Carthusian library, the devotional book reached the university library of Basel in 1590. This is the only completely preserved known manuscript from the Dominican Convent of Klingental.

This voluminous paper manuscript contains the sermons de tempore and de sanctis for the summer part, several hagiographic texts and exempla. This paper manuscript consists of four codicological units, and (contrary to Scherrer) dates to the fifteenth century. The first unit includes blank folios A–F and has an old, fifteenth-century, foliation 182–187. The second unit (f. G and ff. 1–22) first contains a longer, crossed-out table of contents, and, beneath it, an updated, shorter table of contents; both tables come from the fifteenth century. On ff. 1ra–22rb follows the sermon or treatise De passione domini, which is ascribed to Henry of Langenstein both in the manuscript and in the previous catalogues, but ought to be attributed to Henry Totting of Oyta († 1397). According to the rubric comments at the beginning and end of the treatise (f. 1ra, 22rb), this text was copied at the order of the Dominican Conrad Bainli. The third part (ff. 23–81) transmits another sermon or treatise De passione domini, and was produced by a second scribe, who, according to the colophon (f. 74va) made the copy in 1446, also at the behest of Conrad Bainli. The fourth unit (ff. 82–129) contains first on ff. 82ra-116ra the Expositio dominicae passionis by Jordan of Quedlinburg. According to the colophon (f. 116ra) Conrad Bainli, one of the probably two copyists of the Expositio, finished copying the text in 1437. There then follow on ff. 117ra–123ra excerpts from the four Gospels (a Gospel concordance on the Passion?) made by yet another scribe, who, according to the colophon (f. 123ra), also finished the copy in 1437. The binding dates to the fifteenth century and has wooden covers that were already reused.

This manuscript, which originated probably in 1484 in the Convent of the Dominican Sisters of St. Katharina in St. Gall, constitutes the first (remaining) half-volume of a collection which, as indicated in the table of contents, originally comprised 151 sermons, organized according to the church year, and in all likelihood meant to be read daily at mealtime. Among others, it contains sermons by Meister Eckhart, Johannes Tauler, Nikolaus von Straßburg, Rudolf Goltschlacher, Meister Wilhelm, Felix Fabri (?), Jordan von Quedlinburg and several from the corpus of the „St. Georgener“ and „Engelberger Predigten“. Remarkably, regarding the inventory of “Engelberger Predigten”, Cod. Sang. 1066 is exactly complementary to Cod. Sang. 1919 and Wil M 42, which also originated in the Convent of the Dominican sisters of St. Katharina in St. Gall. Cod. Sang. 1919 and Wil M 42 are directly or indirectly based on the same model *C to which also cod. Sang. 1004 and Wil M 47, created 50 years ealier in the St. Gall Benedictine Monastery, owe their selection of Engelberger Predigten; in contrast, Cod. Sang. 1066 is based on a manuscript from text group *Y3, close also to Cod. 752(746) from the library of the Benedictine Monastery of Einsiedeln.
